No banks failed in the US during 2021 or 2022. Similarly, no banks failed in the US during 2005 and 2006. Yet, 140 banks failed in 2009, and 157 failed in 2010 -- during the height of the Great Recession. More typically, between 4 and 10 banks fail each year.
